I spent my first two weeks of my vacations in Portugal with my godparents and godsister in Entroncamento, Portugal. It was fourteen days of life as it should be; a life full of moments based around music, food, family, and the simple fact that we have nothing substantial enough in our lives to give us the right to complain. All three of them are studying music at the Music Conservatory in Fatima and I got the chance to accompany each of them to some of their classes. It was interesting and since I play the piano I was completely fascinated and impressed at the thoroughness of their program.
During my stay, my godsister, Ana, and I traveled around and visited Fatima, Coimbra, Porto, Lisboa and saw each in-between as we rode away into the Portuguese nights on train. One of my favorite visits however, was without a doubt the Casa do Musica in Porto. I had never heard of it but now that I have been there and experienced the acoustic, and architecture marvel that the Casa really is, I cannot imagine a life without at least acknowledging its existence. Now being here on the island of Terceira, I find myself finding different things that I had never seen or experienced before that I cannot imagine living without once I leave. I have only spent three days in the hospital's dental clinic but have already seen more teeth extractions than I had seen in the first nineteen years of my life. I know there will be more to see and more to experience, but up to now there is nothing in this world I would trade for the moments I have come to live in Portugal.
