Base5 English Camp

Meredith- Education Internship
Last Friday we started our classes! We had 30 people show up, we were very happy with the turnout! They came in and we registered them and then split them into three groups. The three stations for the groups were reading, writing and oral interviews. After 30 minutes at one station, they would switch to the next station, until they had done all three. This way, we have a more clear indication of their abilities based on their reading, writing and oral interview skills.
The range of abilities REALLY vary, so we are going to have to divide the class into three levels. Here is a picture of our class yesterday. I sneaked a picture when they were working.
Last night, we had to stay up really late making lesson plans. Carissa and I are teaching the advanced group, so we already had a framework of what to use for our plans from the lesson plans that me and Anya made at the beginning of the summer. However, it has taken a long time because we do not have a printer, so we have to alter the activities so we don’t have to print anything. This is especially difficult for the readings, but we are just going to pass around my laptop and have them read aloud. It didn't work that well, so we are hoping to get printing soon!
